We collect and safely transport e-waste
Our trained team collects e-waste from multiple sites and transfers it safely and securely to the nearest appropriate Sircel facility for recycling. We manage the logistics of your e-waste collection from end-to-end, so you don’t have to.
We use our own fleet or a trusted network of logistics partners to move material between sites in the most cost-effective and low-emission way possible.
How we collect e-waste
We offer secure collection or transport of your decommissioned computing devices, and onsite data-erasure and recycling. Every step is completed in-country, with data security and reuse as our top priorities.
Examples of how we collect e-waste, in our secure and purpose-built cages, include:
- Public e-waste collection events, with councils
- Corporate or private e-waste collections
- Onsite decommissioning
Partnering with councils to collect e-waste
Councils around Australia rely on Sircel to provide residential e-waste collection services for local residents, allowing them to ethically dispose of their e-waste.
We partner with councils to collect e-waste from households through:
- Council-led events
- Collection of e-waste cages and bins at council-owned recovery centers and tips
- Collaborative design of recycling systems, with residents in mind
Since 2019, we have partnered with more than 19 councils around Australia to collect nearly 1,000 tonnes of e-waste from Australian households through public collection events.
These events take place at a council-owned location, such as a carpark, over a set time period. Local residents drive in and have their e-waste removed from their cars by our team, who move it to one of our specialised collection containers. Often, our team is triaging the e-waste onsite, ensuring the appropriate materials are sent to the right facility to ensure fast, efficient processing.
Our professional events team manage the event from start to finish, deploying our team of trained events collection staff to the location for the day. We customise the entire event for councils, and are directed by what they want to achieve for their residents.
We have worked with councils such as Sutherland City Council and George’s River for 4 years to provide safe, ethical e-waste recycling to nearly 10,000 households.
Partnering with corporates to collect e-waste
Government organisations, corporates and private businesses also leverage our e-waste collection services through:
- Regular collection of secure onsite e-waste cages
- Running an e-waste collection event for their customers
- Onsite decommissioning
For example, we work with property groups like Dexus and Goodman to collect e-waste from their commercial and residential clients through onsite cages in their waste facilities.
We also run events for businesses like Mitre 10 or local community organisations whose customers and members want to dispose of their e-waste properly. We set up secure onsite collection bins or cages for customers to use over a set period and we regularly collect them, to minimise security issues.
Managing e-waste logistics
We manage all logistical requirements for e-waste collection for our government, corporate and private clients.
Our trucks and our transport network is secure, ensuring there is no opportunity for property theft, data leakage, contamination or exposure to hazardous materials.
The safe handling and transport of e-waste is a highly-specialised service and we offer bespoke logistics solutions using our fleet or a trusted partner.
Our fleet is purpose-designed for e-waste collection and our team is expertly trained. If it is more cost-effective and emissions-friendly to use a logistics partner, we work with our tight network of trusted, reliable e-waste trucking businesses including CBD Waste. We assess each job carefully and select the right partner for transport, based on our client’s specific needs and cost efficiencies, which we pass on to our clients.
What’s more, our Villawood facility is R2v3 certified, which is the highest level of certification for data handling and destruction. R2 certification stands for “Responsible Recycling” and is a global standard for ethical, best-practice recycling of electronics, from collection through to data erasure and repurposing or recycling.
