E-waste recycling services for any industry and government body
Helping Australian businesses, organisations and government ethically manage e-waste
Every business that uses technology and electronic devices will, at some point, generate e-waste. All devices require upgrading or will reach end-of-life, and the businesses and organisations that wish to see an ethical solution to disposing of them seek out Sircel.
We are well known for our ESG reporting and our clients — listed companies, government bodies and councils, private businesses — rely on us to help them deliver their ESG commitments and meet stakeholder expectations.
Government departments
Our government clients range from law enforcement to local councils around Australia. All must follow strict guidelines for data security and uphold their community-focused sustainability commitments.
We provide end-to-end services for all government bodies and organisations to ensure compliance and provide detailed reporting. For example, in a recent project with a leading law enforcement agency, we addressed their sensitive data erasure needs while managing e-waste recycling in-house and in-country, all in accordance with the highest data security standards. Our joint outcomes delivered on their security and sustainability needs and was fully compliant with regulatory requirements.

Local councils
We work with local councils to manage the ballooning e-waste problems they are faced with in managing household and commercial waste within their municipalities.
We run public drop-off events and provide e-waste collection capability at local resource recovery centres (council tips). Read more here.
Since 2021, we have run more than 45 events for 20 councils to help thousands of households dispose of their e-waste ethically, easily and safely. We manage these events end-to-end with our in-house events management team and trained staff and customise each event to meet the needs of residents and businesses in the area.
Our digital capabilities play a crucial role in the success of these initiatives. We’re implementing advanced software to track and manage the entire event process, ensuring transparency and efficiency. Each event is followed by detailed reporting, providing councils with comprehensive data that they can use to inform their sustainability performance and future waste management strategies.
Telcos and Digital Infrastructure
Some of Australia’s largest telecommunications companies choose Sircel as their e-waste recycling partner.
With server centers, data farms and exchanges right across the country, the scope of our work with these national businesses is broad. To manage the large scale of these relationships, we have trained a disperse team of technical experts who can decommission the equipment onsite, and securely transport it to the nearest Sircel facility for processing.
For example, since 2021 we have worked with Optus to decommission their live exchange sites, in multiple states. We have extracted 690 tonnes of materials, including printed circuit board, data servers, cables and computer hardware. So far, we have diverted 98% of all materials, and 100% of plastics, from landfill. We are actively expanding the program and will apply the approach to other technical and infrastructure upgrades in the near future.

Energy and Infrastructure
Many energy providers in Australia are driven by critically important sustainability goals, especially when it comes to upgrading infrastructure and equipment, and transitioning to renewables.
When Endeavour Energy, one of NSW’s largest energy providers, was upgrading their streetlights to more energy-efficient LED lighting, they sought out a holistic waste management partner to support the transition end-to-end and across multiple sites.
Endeavour Energy chose Sircel as their strategic partner on this project, when they learned about our reporting capabilities and our equal alignment to driving the circular economy. We have recycled 472 tonnes of old streetlights to date, and diverted 99% of all materials from landfill.

Retailers
Australia’s leading retailers are always seeking new ways to engage customers and drive foot traffic through stores.
Understanding that many Australians want to ethically dispose of their e-waste, large retailers work with Sircel to provide secure e-waste collection bins onsite. These bins are regularly collected and provide an added incentive for customers to visit the store and often replace the piece of equipment with a new purchase.
Best in class solutions
We understand that our clients operate in complex environments with competing budget and sustainability demands. Often, procurement pressures drive toward the lowest cost solutions as opposed to those with impact and outcome.
But the success metric for recycling e-waste needs to be broader than the lowest cost. We all need to focus on long-term community outcomes.
We believe all Australian businesses and councils should be incentivised to partner with companies offering best-in-class solutions that deliver a better service, reduce pressure on landfill, drive circular economy outcomes, and achieve a higher environmental outcome.
We offer competitive pricing and customised, measurable solutions for all sectors – public, private, and government – in Australia.
